Hi! Nice to meet you, I’m Mackenzie —
Busy bee, coffeeshop enthusiast, plant mom, and design strategist.
Currently, I’m finishing up a Bachelor of Communications - Information Design at Mount Royal University (and working on about a dozen side projects). Information design combines visual and communication design — with a healthy dose of human-centred design. Basically, it’s about communicating well in every form, with a user-centric focus. I’m especially interested in service design, sustainability initiatives, and the intersection between people and the spaces in which they live. In practice, I thrive when I am thinking strategically, executing, and making connections. I also believe in the power of action plans, prioritizing, and coffee — lots and lots of coffee.
I also work with sustainably-minded, female-focused entrepreneurs and small biz founders that are looking to step up their styling and strategy with intentional planning and design. My process is grounded in first building context and then building out the rest. I’m obsessed with the styling and strategy needed to build out your big visions.
Right now, you can find me:
loving my day job as ActivateYYC Coordinator with The Federation of Calgary Communities
designing information at Trico Changemakers Studio
pilot project-ing with the Near Here team
planning events and coordinating volunteers with Plastic Free YYC
connecting people and design with in form studio
freelancing with some super fun humans
Booking new projects for January 2020. Send me a note to connect, I’m always up for a coffee date.
