The Student Guide To Wellbeing

Data Visualization, October 2015

For this assignment, I was tasked with finding a way to promote sustainability on campus at Mount Royal University, in the form of a data visualization. This project was created to help students find resources available to them while attending MRU.

This project began with research, interviews, and brainstorming, which led me to narrow the design problem to focus on the human factors of sustainability: emotional, physical, and mental. I wanted the visual representation to show the different realms of support systems that students had. I chose to display them with colour coding and categorization, in order to aid understanding. The voice used reflects that of a friendly university representative, wanting to aid struggling students in getting the help they need.

In November 2015, I submitted this project to the "Rcktshp Show and Prove Scholarship", was first chosen as 1/10 finalists across Canada, and then awarded the scholarship. Currently, it is being used by the Office of Student Success at Mount Royal University to assist in the training of student success peers.
